This classic and easy to make Apple Pie recipe is delicious, quick, and can be a great dish to bake with the kids on a cozy Sunday morning.

To make the pie crust combine the flour, salt, sugar, and butter in a food processor using the KPKitchen Stainless Steel Measuring Cups. Pulse until the mix looks like small couscous grains.
Roll out on the KPKitchen Silicone Pastry Mat until the dough becomes smooth and form a ball. Cut the ball into two and form two separate balls.
Place a large piece of plastic wrap on top of each ball. Using a rolling pin start rolling out the dough into think 9-10 inch circle with the help of the markings on your KPKitchen Silicone Pastry Mat.
Repeat with the other dough ball. Refrigerate the dough at least one hour before using.
Preheat the oven to 400F.
In a large bowl combine the apples, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extrac with the help of your KPKitchen Stainless Steel Measuring Cups. Toss to combine.
Place the apples on top. Then take the other dough and place it on your KPKitchen Silicone Pastry Mat. Cut it into even strips with a dough scraper on the mat (you can use the outside markings on the mat to get them sized perfectly) and line every other strip on top of the apples. Then take the rest of the strips and braid them into the strips that are already on the pie.
Brush with the egg and cover the sides with aluminum foil. This will prevent the edges from burning.
Bake for about 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes.
Cool off before serving.
Pour heavy cream into a large mixing bowl. Using the whisk attachment of your stand or hand mixer, beat the whipped cream on medium-high speed until it begins to thicken.
Add sugar, vanilla extract, and cream of tartar. Increase to high speed, and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
Top your apple pie with your selfmade whipped cream and enjoy!
Recipe Note
Cream of tartar keeps the protein molecules in the heavy cream in place, which provides structure to the water and air bubbles in the whipped cream, holding them together instead of allowing the water to seep out. This is the magic ingredient that stabilizes your whipped cream.
